What really happened to GRIFFEN Bicycles…?

With great sadness, after 15 years of business, we have recently shut down the operation of GRIFFEN Bicycles.  The factory in Decatur, Texas has been closed, and all employees have moved on to other pursuits.  As part of the process involved with winding down this business, we are selling off all remaining assets of the company – including the GRIFFEN brand itself.

I’m hoping that this forum will provide an outlet for these assets to find their way into the hands of people who will appreciate them for what they are – painstakingly crafted works of art that cyclists have been raving about for over a decade.  I fully expect that a good number of current GRIFFEN owners will take this last opportunity to add to their arsenal, while some others who have been waiting will seize this final opportunity to grab a GRIFFEN of their own before they become completely extinct.

There’s also a part of me that hopes this “tribe” of GRIFFEN athletes might come together in a collective voice that will be heard by someone who has the heart to keep this wonderful brand alive.  I’ve had the pleasure of hearing this voice in virtually every GRIFFEN customer interaction, and it is hard for me to fathom how something that is loved so much, by so many, could actually go away…  Perhaps someone out there with greater economic depth than mine would still be willing to answer the call of the GRIFFEN tribe – only time will tell…  If it matters to you – let your voice be heard here!!

    Mark,

I’m so sorry to hear about the closing of Griffen. Your bikes have been under me for many races and many great expereriences—from Kona to the Paralympics to a World TT championship. I’ll continue to ride my road, TT and track bikes for years to come.

Thanks so much (to Tony also, of course) for being there me, without condition, for so long.

    Sadly,

    Paul Martin

I love my bike and I so sad to see you guy dissolve.
Your bike is the best, the material is top to none, carbon is crap.
I don’t get it…. this will come back you watch.

  4. This is very sad. I love my Griffen:

They had the right idea. Carbon fiber bikes suck. I’ve never had a better-riding tri bike than my b4c.
    :-(
